Experienced Applied Technology Professional Needed to Head-Up RI Business Development Unit

Description:If you're looking for a winning team, we're on the same wavelength. FarSounder is looking to add just the right Sales and Marketing Professional to our team. We are a small marine electronics manufacturing and development company located in Warwick, Rhode Island. We have produced a new kind of 3D marine sonar and have been in business since 2001. Our products are now found in all oceans of the world and we believe we are revolutionizing marine navigation just as GPS and Radar did in the past. In addition, development projects at FarSounder, which will expand the current product line, cover a broad range of topics in navigation, obstacle avoidance, security and other sonar applications.

FarSounder, a Warwick, RI-based developer and manufacturer of unique, custom SONAR detection equipment is seeking an experienced and motivated applied technology professional with proven skills in translating customer requirements into both product sales and new technology applications.

The successful applicant will have a proven track-record of successfully introducing and selling new, sophisticated sensor & systems technology to a diverse audience of commercial, recreational, governmental and academic clients. Candidates must have the technical and communication skills to work directly with these clients to understand and interpret their sometimes complex application and integration requirements. Because of the diverse nature of our client base, critical skills will include the ability to multi-task and to quickly adapt to changing priorities.

The selected individual must be able to execute the entire sales cycle from first contact to closing the sale. Additionally, they will be given the opportunity to manage and grow the company’s world-wide sales network as required. Due to the evolving nature and broad market contact associated with this position, the individual must be a strategic thinker and assess the new and changing sales horizon.

The company views this as a new and critically important management position and, based upon meeting growth objectives, the successful applicant will be given the opportunity to build a business development team to meet the needs of our expanding markets.

The position will require extensive (>40%) travel, both domestically and internationally, to a wide variety of client locations.

Skills: Required

  • Experience with marine systems sales
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a small, growing technology company
  • Skilled at closing sales
  • Candidate needs to have the ability to use computer software package tools including spreadsheets, presentation software and customer database management
  • International & Domestic business experience
  • Desire and Ability to Travel ( >40%)
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Smart, personable, self-starter
  • Available for an in-person interview in Rhode Island
  • Permanent legal right to work in the United States

Skills: Preferred

  • Bachelors' of Science degree or equivalent
  • Experience with technical systems sales
  • Government and GSA contract experience
  • Technical degree a plus
  • Eligible for security clearance
