Software Engineer

Time Commitment: Full Time

Description: If you're looking for a winning team, we're on the same wavelength. FarSounder is looking to add just the right Software Developer to our team. We are a small marine electronics manufacturing and development company located in Providence, Rhode Island. We have produced a new kind of 3D marine sonar and have been in business since 2001 Our products are now found in all oceans of the world.

Development projects at FarSounder cover a broad range of topics. Based on your interest and experience your projects may include:

2D and 3D visualization of sensor data
User interface design and development
Signal processing design and/or implementation. This includes areas such as target classification, target tracking, and multi-sensor data fusion.
Design and development of network architecture for multi-sensor environments.

As with all companies, it is critical to our success that our technical team understands our customers' needs. In order to meet that goal, you will be expected to participate in field work such as local day long boat trips for at sea testing. You may also have the opportunity to travel to distant locations to visit with customers vessels and participate in system commissioning and/or service.

Responsibilities: Design, develop, code, test, document, support, and maintain FarSounder's software.

Technologies: Primarly C++, MFC, OpenGL, Python, SQL, and Matlab. This is by no means inclusive, and will probably change and grow as needed.

Skills: Required

Excellent software development skills.
Able to work in groups, as well as independently
Excellent command of written and spoken English
Available for an in-person interview in Rhode Island
Permanent legal right to work in the United States
Smart, personable, self-starter

Skills: Preferred

Bachelors' of Science degree or equivalent
Eligible for security clearance
Experience with marine systems
Experience with signal processing
